Aspen Valley Health
Meeting the Needs of Our Mountain Community

Trauma Services

Advanced Care When It Matters Most

Aspen Valley Health was designated as a Level III Trauma Center by the State of Colorado Department of Public Health Environment (CDPHE) in 1999, and recently earned its redesignation in 2019.

As a Level III Trauma Center, the hospital has an ER physician in-house 24/7 and a general surgeon on call 24/7. In addition, the hospital has an expanded scope in orthopaedic services with an orthopaedic surgeon on call 24/7 as well as availability of radiology and internal medicine experts.

The trauma program oversees a multidisciplinary program and provides continuing trauma education to our clinical providers. We participate in the state trauma system, and at the local and regional level with Emergency Medicine and Trauma Advisory Councils.

Aspen Valley Health participates in local community events like Bike to Work Day, Aspen Rotary’s Ducky Derby, Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club’s 4th of July picnic and National Ski Patrol Safety Month to provide helmets and head injury prevention education to the community.
