Bio

Dr. Scott Gallagher began practicing emergency medicine at Aspen Valley Health in 1997, shortly after completing his medical studies at UCLA and residency at Alameda County Medical Center. Dr. Gallagher has been the medical director for Mountain Rescue Aspen since 1997, a position that allows him to practice in two areas of particular interest: high altitude and wilderness medicine. He also studied dive medicine and hyperbarics with the US Navy while completing his residency in Alameda, and had the opportunity to practice in Guam and Honduras. Dr. Gallagher has studied, volunteered and worked abroad in Russia, Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, Honduras, Peru, Ecuador, Kenya, Nepal and Indonesia. He has also volunteered his services at Grateful Dead shows and the Burning Man festival. He currently contributes to online medical references such as Up-to-Date and Medline in the areas of high altitude medicine and dive medicine. Dr. Gallagher is certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a fellow at the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has long found the Aspen area suits his outdoor lifestyle and appreciates the culturally rich and diverse atmosphere that is unique to our small mountain town.
