Bio

Dr. Jon Gibans has spent three decades practicing Emergency Medicine and as a general practitioner at the Snowmass Clinic. He is also an accomplished mountaineer who has summited Mt. Everest and other mountains in the Himalayas, and was a member of the second-ever group of Americans to summit Gunnbjorns Fjeld in Greenland. During the Everest expedition in 2003, Dr. Gibans put his slopeside medical skills to use assisting mountaineers who had been temporarily blinded or suffered frost bite during their climbs. He graduated from Yale University with a degree in Engineering before attending medical school at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland and serving his internship at the University of Colorado Health Center. Working in Snowmass Village gives him the chance to see patients of all ages from all over the world. His long commitment to the valley has been driven in large part by the people who live and visit, and the opportunities to explore our vast wilderness.
