Bio

Dr. J. Steven Ayers is a longtime member of the emergency department at Aspen Valley Health. Since joining the Hospital in 1986, Dr. Ayers has served as chair of the emergency department and chief of staff. He began his career in Tulsa following his studies at the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in 1983 and residency at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. In addition to his work in emergency medicine, Dr. Ayers is recognized for his work in forensic and tactical medicine through many years serving as Pitkin County chief coroner-medical examiner. Dr. Ayers has also worked with private organizations on medical mission work in Bolivia and Haiti. He is certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
